A couple of small but really annoying bugs have forced us to quickly release a maintenance version.

4.0.2 fixes a couple of nasty installation bugs. The installer program was also updated to 1.0.2, so if you are using the installer, then you will need to re-download that too.

Everything is available via the Omnium Open home page

We've just done a quick bump up to 4.0.1 to add some beta Windows Vista support.

The wiki will be updated soon to add some windows specific instructions to the install procedures.

The automated installer may not work properly yet for windows, but we'll bring it up to speed as soon as possible.

Visit the Omnium Open home page for more info.

P.S. another point to note is that we have halved the size of the source tarball, thanks to the removal of some unnecessary font files.

The new omnium website has been launched today. The most important aspect of this launch is a much clearer description of what Omnium Software does.

Visit the Omnium Software section of the new website for more information.

Shortly we will be launching a tour so that anyone wishing to trial the software can do so without installing it.

We had a need internally to create a new release. So here it is.

Many of the changes slated for Release Candidate 1 are in this release, bar a few formatting changes and some sanitisation work that we are doing.

Just a few minutes ago we released a new version 4.0.0b2

This version includes Team Notices, Forums, Team Forums and much better support for all you poor Internet Explorer users.

Anyone using the previous version 4.0.0b1.2 can upgrade their database using the upgrade script in the scripts folder, but as usual I recommend a fresh start (hey, it is beta software after all). There is also a separate script for installation of the help content. See the installation instructions on the wiki for more information about that.

Feel free to direct installation problems to the installation support forum

This new version is now available for standard download from the Omnium Open home page.

For the adventurous, we have a new version.

There are some major changes to the structure of the database, and it is recommended that anyone who is upgrading starts from scratch. There is no upgrade script to move from beta 1.1 to beta 1.2.

Most installations will have to make some changes to their my.cnf file (for MySQL) to get this and subsequent versions to work. The max_allowed_packet value must be large enough to accommodate the settings in omnium.ini. You will get error messages if it is not.

Feel free to direct installation problems to the installation support forum

This version is now available for standard download from the Omnium Open home page.

Addresses a few bugs in 4.0.0b1 as well as adding a few new options to the resources module, effectively allowing it to act like a links module like the one we had in Omnium version 3.x.x

If you are one of the few who have installed 4.0.0 beta 1, then you should probably start again with a fresh database using the revised database install script in 4.0.0b1.1. This will add an example "links" area.

If however you wish to keep your existing database there is an upgrade script for the database which will hopefully get you upgraded.

After a bit of a delay we are releasing today the first public release of Omnium Software, version 4.0.0b1.

There are a few things to note about this release, firstly it only contains a limited set of functionality. It's sort of a "baby" Omnium.
Omnium Software 4 is a major overhaul of the previous version 3 codebase, and thus a lot of the intended functionality is still unbuilt or in it's infancy, however we thought it best to get the software out the door at beta level sooner rather than later. As we extend the functionality we can now release it directly to subversion until we mark new versions. For more information see this ticket.

To download the current release you can go to the Omnium Open homepage, download and follow the instructions there to install.

You can also access the code via Subversion at http://svn.omnium.net.au/omnium-4/trunk
